I have just completed reading a most frightening article — “Planet Fox”.
It is a long analysis of the Murdoch media empire, written by Jonathan Mahler and Jim Rutenberg and printed in the April 7 issue of The New York Times Magazine. This window into the family’s huge wealth gained by buying media outlets across the globe (such as Fox News) and moving them to the right is scary because of what the authors reveal of the power of money. According to the article, the world-wide shift toward nationalism, anti-immigration, anti-Moslem and business unrestricted by government can be defined and interpreted by Murdoch maneuvers.
An oligarchy of a relatively small group of extremely wealthy people is making shambles of our democracy. Read it and tremble.
