Perhaps my favorite figure of speech is the synecdoche — a part stands for the whole. Examples: We have 20 head of cattle. My sixteen year old daughter now has four wheels. Come over to our house and have a bite.
Synecdoche lends itself quite well to photography. Here is a synecdoche for the back forty.
A synecdoche for old barn.
A synecdoche for spring.
For breakfast.
And a fifth synecdoche, this for antiquity.
Today I’m in a rural zone. It’s been a cloudy and rainy day. I searched for a synecdoche but couldn’t find a good one. But here is one from my files.
